a historic escape

This historic Craftsman style residence was built c. 1916 by Dr. Toivo and Alli Forsstrom. They did an extensive remodel of their 1894 Victorian one story home by rotating the structure on the property, adding a new foundation, basement and full second floor.

The house stands above the vibrant downtown of Astoria, Oregon in the Hobson-Flavel Historic District. The Forsstrom House is located near the 1885 Flavel House Museum. Astoria is blossoming with breweries, museums, art galleries, restaurants, cultural events and local boutiques. There is so much to do and see!

The home is listed on the City of Astoria Historic Register. The Edwardian style home is furnished with period antiques, lighting and furnishings for an authentic historic experience.

The Forsstrom House is five years into a seven year restoration plan. It was in disrepair due to deferred maintenance when purchased in 2018. The new foundation was completed by Bergemann Construction in 2019. Local carpenter, John Davies, is taking the lead on basement interior construction and basement & first floor exterior restoration in 2020-2023 Additional infrastructure and historic restoration projects are in being planned and executed. A new exterior paint scheme in a four color Craftsman palette has been selected and is scheduled for summers of 2023 and 2024!
